Artistic Director

Meg Millband

Meg has been creating and performing dance work both nationally and internationally since 1991. She toured Australasia, Britain, Ireland and Europe with an English based company in 1991–1995.

She was inspired by workshops given by Lloyd Newson at university whilst completing a Bachelor of Arts degree, and has continued to explore similar material based on raw emotion and pushing the limits of audience/performer relationships. Collaboration and process are paramount to her works.

After returning to Australia in 1996 she has been working as an independent artist/choreographer and dance educator in both the private and public sectors. She has worked with a variety of choreographers and dance practitioners including Julia Gray, Clare Dyson & Wendy Morrow. She was appointed Artistic Director of Canberra Dance Theatre in 2007.

Company Director

Philip Piggin

Trained in Australia, UK and New York, Philip has worked in England, Scotland, Wales, Russia and throughout Australia. While in the UK, he worked as a Community Dance Animateur in North Wales, and directed his own all male dance company - MEN DANCING.

Since returning to Australia in 1993 he has worked in the regions as a freelance dance practitioner, teacher, performer, choreographer and director for various educational, professional and community projects, lectured at a number of universities in NSW and the ACT, was on the Artistic Directorate for Hothouse Theatre in Albury Wodonga, the NSW Dance Committee for the NSW Ministry of the Arts and was a Peer Assessor for the Australia Council.

Philip moved to the ACT in 1999, creating the position of Dance Development Officer for Ausdance ACT. He has been on the co-ordinating committees for the past two National Community Dance Forums in Sydney and Brisbane, and has led two community dance programs in WA. He was the Dance Editor for Muse Magazine (2002-04), and teaches and lectures extensively throughout the ACT and beyond.
